Today's science lesson was learning about neurons. The language used in the module to present this lesson was above my child's comprehension level. There was also a large amount of information that was presented, but was not on the test. After the lesson we used the following videos to provide the visuals needed to make sense of all the new vocabulary words that were important.
We rewatched the nervous system for kids video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWstNQCo3Rk
After this we moved on to Nerves: Structure of a Neuron https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta_vWUsrjho
After the video we moved on to the Body Game. This game has been a hit. Each time he is engaged and it makes the lesson a bit more fun.
After we finished the game we updated his study guide for his semester and unit assessment. Because of the pace of the courses we have created an ongoing study guide that includes visuals and language that he understands.
